JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

  • The Mechanic repairs both Stone Mountain Access owned equipment as well as customer owner equipment.

Essential Functions

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Repair and replace damaged or warn parts of scaffold and swing stage equipment according to all manufacturers’ requirements.
  • Dismantle and reassemble equipment using proper tools.
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on tools and equipment.
  • Test equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area free from debris or items not needed for immediate task at hand.
  • Assist and pull orders as needed.

  • None required for this position

Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud up to 50% of the time. This position is performed in all weather conditions with 90% of work performed indoors and 10% of work performed outside.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
    The employee is frequently required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift, push, pull or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.
    Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

  • Occasional day and overnight travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 2-3 years related experience with electrical hoist or mechanical equipment repairs; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, schematics, blue prints and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak, read and write English required.
  • Ability to speak, read or write Spanish or Polish preferred.

Math Skills

  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100ss. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

  • New Orleans does digital service reports in the service area must have basic ability to use a computer.

Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

  • Driver’s license preferred.
  • Some positions may require a Class B license.
  • Hoist repair training preferred: Sky Climber, Power Climber, Tractel, Bisomac, Beta Max, and Hi-Lo
    Climbers.
